Local law enforcement authorities recovered two stolen vehicles Monday and made several arrests in connection to the thefts, according to the Jan. 12 Cowley County Sheriff’s Office activity report.

Officials recovered a 2014 Dodge Journey around 6:36 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of East 13th Avenue in Winfield, the report states. Trey Moore was arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle theft, and for three outstanding warrants. Brandon Drum was also arrested for a probation violation warrant.

According to the report, drug-related items were found in the Dodge and collected for evidence. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

A few minutes later, at 6:40 p.m., Arkansas City police conducted a traffic stop in the 29000 block of the U.S. 77 By-pass. Jason Hess was arrested by police for drug-related charges. Hess was found to be driving a 2017 GMC 2500 pickup truck that had been reported stolen to the sheriff’s office. The truck was released to the owner.
