ACPD investigates injury accident Monday at Eighth Street and Radio Lane

Single-vehicle wreck thought due to driver losing consciousness

The Arkansas City Police Department responded to and investigated an injury accident Monday afternoon near the intersection of Eighth Street and Radio Lane.

The Arkansas City Fire-EMS and Police departments responded at 3:41 p.m. Monday for a report of an injury accident at that intersection and found that a single vehicle struck a tree.

As the driver, a 43-year-old Arkansas City man, was coming home from Winfield after a medical procedure, it is thought that he lost consciousness, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway.

The vehicle, a white 2019 Dodge Journey, struck a tree in the 2200 block of North Eighth Street.

The driver sustained injuries to his left arm, head and chest. He was transported by the Arkansas City Fire-EMS Department to South Central Kansas Medical Center for treatment.

The exact cause of the accident is unknown and remains under investigation. No citations have been issued at this time.
