The Cowley College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting Friday via Zoom to consider whether to spend more than $300,000 on new windows and doors at the college’s Winfield building in Baden Square.
The money would come from the technical education grant funds from the Kansas Board of Regents, according to Cowley staff.
“The Winfield windows and door entrances have been scheduled to be replaced for the last several years,” a staff report states. “We have funding remaining in the grant funds to complete this project this summer.”
Cowley operates its Emergency Medical Services and Allied Health programs from an old brick building in Baden Square at 1406 E. Eighth St. The Winfield campus is home to EMT, paramedic and nursing programs.
Trustees are holding a special meeting to meet a June 1 deadline of allocating the funds, according to board clerk Tiffany Vollmer. The bids came in too late for the regular meeting this month, she said.
Two bids were received to replace the nearly 60 windows and doors — Ark City Mirror & Glass for $392,769 and Wickham Glass of Wichita for $343,500. Cowley staff recommends going with Wickham as the low bidder.
The meeting agenda also includes personnel transactions authorized for Cowley President Michelle Schoon for the board to review.
Tanner Brock has resigned as men’s and women’s assistant soccer coach, effective June 9.
