Winfield Arts & Humanities Council planning to hold porch photo contest

The Winfield Arts & Humanities Council (WAHC) is calling for submissions to its #sitaspell Porch Photo Contest being held now until Feb. 21. The contest calls for photographs of home porches decorated for entertaining guests.

This year, the WAHC’s annual Evening for the Arts fundraiser auction will feature many porch drop-off meals homemade by local arts supporters. Therefore, the WAHC would like to see the best porches in the community and feature them on its Facebook page. The winner of the contest will receive a yard sign that declares “Voted Best Porch in the WAHC Sit a Spell Contest” as well as two hanging flower pots from Gottlob Lawn & Landscape.

Those that would like to participate in the contest should send their photo and contact information to winfieldarts@gmail.com by Feb. 21. The WAHC will then put all submitted photos in a post on its Facebook page on Feb. 22 for the public to vote on their favorite porch by “liking” its photo. Voting will end at 4 p.m. Feb. 24. The winner will be announced on the day of the WAHC Evening for the Arts online auction — Feb. 25.

The Annual WAHC Evening for the Arts fundraiser auction will take place online this year at www.theurer.net. Bidding will begin Feb. 25 and close March 6. The auction will feature private dinner parties hosted by local patrons and organizations as well as many homemade and unique porch drop-off meals. There will also be artwork available to place bids on. All proceeds from the auction will go towards the WAHC’S programs, including affordable art classes for the youth of Cowley County.

For more information on the contest or the fundraiser, contact the Winfield Arts & Humanities Council at (620) 221-2161 or by email winfieldarts@gmail.com.
