Southwestern College Director of Athletics Mike McCoy has announced the hiring of Julia Kramm as the new head cheer and dance coach.
Kramm earned a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in nutritional science from the University of Missouri. During her time there, she served as a member of the cheerleading squad (2017-20). Throughout those three seasons, Kramm participated on the sidelines at athletic events, both home and away, and various SEC events, including SEC College Gamedays. She assisted the team to two third-place finishes in the All-Girl Division 1A at NCA Collegiate National Championship in 2018 and ’19 in Daytona, Fla.
Kramm has been a part of the NCA staff since 2017 and serves as a head instructor, where she is responsible for coordinating and organizing camps and clinics throughout the midwest, while also assisting other staffers in teaching fundamentals, technical ability and performance quality to athletes of all age ranges and skill levels.
"I am excited to begin this new chapter as the head cheer and dance coach at Southwestern College," Kramm said. "I look forward to becoming a part of the Builder family and building upon the strong traditions and mission established by Southwestern. My goal is not only to build a strong spirit program, but also to create an environment that fosters personal and academic growth through athletic performance, leadership and community service."
A native of Glasgow, Mo., Kramm was a member of the varsity cheerleading program for Glasgow High School for four seasons, earning two MCCA State Cheerleading Championship titles and a top-10 finish at the NCA High School Nationals in Dallas, Texas. During this time, she also competed competitively at Eagle Elite Cheerleading in Columbia, Mo.
"We are excited about the experience and knowledge Kramm brings in," McCoy said. "We are very proud of our cheer and dance programs and are looking forward to continuing to move them forward."
Kramm's duties with the cheer and dance programs will begin immediately.
