I’ve got a product for you. Guaranteed to reduce signs of aging such as grumpiness, boredom, irritability, loneliness, poor appetite, insomnia, dementia, weakness, stiffness, pain, arthritis, ad nauseam. The magic elixir for all these ailments is having fun.

Remember, you don’t quit having fun because you get old, you get old when you quit having fun! Anti-aging is a word we hear and see in print a great deal. It applies predominately to cosmetics. What does it matter if the face is perfectly smooth and flawless if there is no smile on it? Having fun with a dose of laughter, joy, and enthusiasm are the perfect cure for sagging skin. When you smile, everything is pointing up! That’s a significant anti-aging benefit.

Did you know that having fun activates the release of neuropeptides, the feel-good neurotransmitters? Dopamine, endorphins and serotonin are all released when a smile flashes across your face. This not only relaxes your body, but it can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Sounds anti-aging to me!

If you have trouble letting go and having fun, here are some tips: be yourself, loosen up, stop following all the rules, stop taking yourself and other things so seriously, do something entirely new, and, most of all, quit worrying about what others think. You can fake it ‘til you make it because smiling improves your mood no matter how you are feeling inside.

Start a deliberate search for fun. Watch comedy movies, plan a game night with friends, start a new hobby. Remember laughter is good medicine and guaranteed to work. Will Rogers said, “We are all here for a spell, get all the good laughs you can.”
