During the early morning hours of Tuesday, Arkansas City crews began blocking off parts of the alleyway in the downtown area for a construction project that will span several blocks. Beginning Monday and weather permitting, improvements in wastewater infrastructure will start in the alleyway on the west side of Summit Street from Fifth Street to Adams Avenue. The project will include a downtown manhole and sanitary sewer rehabilitation and is expected to be completed in around 90 days, pending any unforeseen construction delays. Vogts-Parga Construction of Newton is conducting the $399,207 project.
