Thad Douglas Gordon, 56, of Peabody, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Newton Medical Center.
A private family service will be held at Cedar Vale Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Thad was born Aug. 24, 1964 in Tulsa, Okla. to Tommy Joe and Judy Diane (Archer) Gordon. Thad graduated from Winfield High School in 1982, where he excelled in music. He also had fond memories of traveling to Europe with the WHS French Club the summer of his senior year. He attended Wichita State University for one year until he was stricken with a debilitating mental illness that become a life-long struggle. Despite suffering with severe schizophrenia, Thad persevered in his own way, and his love of music continued throughout his life.
Thad was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Joe Gordon and Diane Archer Bradbury; by his step-father, Noble Dean Bradbury; and by his grandparents, Leon “Swede” and Biffle (Evans) Gordon, and T. Fred and Opal (Duke) Archer.
Thad is survived by his brother, Jeff (Diana) Gordon, of Wichita; his nephews, Archer and Justin Gordon; his aunt, Linda Murphy, of Ponca City, Okla.; and by his many cousins. He will be fondly remembered by his second family at Westview Manor in Peabody.
