Barbara Shrubshall, 83, of Winfield, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 8, 2021 at her home.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 p.m.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to help to defray funeral expenses. Contributions can be made through the funeral home. Online condolences can be made through the funeral home.
Born Feb. 26, 1937, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Harold and Lela (Wilson) Darnell. She was raised and received her education in Winfield.
Barbara was united in marriage to Lowell E. Shrubshall on Feb. 11, 1961 in Winfield, where the couple made their home. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, Barbara also worked in several area restaurants as a waitress. She also helped to manage the family’s restaurant on the north end of Winfield. Mr. Shrubshall preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2011.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, painting, needlework, quilting and going for rides around the park. She especially loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by a son, Michael Darnell; a great-grandson, Garrett Darnell, and a great-granddaughter, Lela Bosley.
Her family includes her son, John Darnell, of Winfield; her brothers, Sam Darnell and Charlie Darnell, both of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
