Otis Lynes

William “Otis” Lynes, 66, of Winfield, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2022.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. A private family interment is at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. that day.

A memorial has been established in Otis’ name for his grandchildrens’ education fund. Contributions can be made through the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.milesfuneralservice.com.

Otis was born July 31, 1955 in Sedan to Christopher Columbus and Audrie (Hodge) Lynes. He was raised and educated in Moline.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973 to 1977. When discharged, he went to work for Santa Fe Railway. He left Santa Fe and opened and operated Lynes Conoco Service until he semi-retired and moved his shop to the family home.

He was united in marriage to Christie Foote on Jan. 25, 1979. To this union, two sons were born, Jeffrey and Joey.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Aden, David Leon and David Lynn.

He is survived by his wife, Christie, of the home; sons, Jeff, of Winfield, and Joey and wife, Kathy, of Wichita; granddaughter, Amily, of Wichita; grandsons, Braden, of Winfield, and Austin, of Wichita; sister, Marcia, of Chanute; brothers, Ronnie, of Ponca City, Okla., and Paul, of Oklahoma City; and several nieces and nephews.
