Derek was a happy, fun-loving guy who always made people laugh, sometimes being somewhat of a prankster. He loved fishing, hunting, 4-wheelers and dirt bikes. He also had a horse, various collections through the years, and made and forged his own knives. Derek loved his dogs and barbecuing.
Derek worked at Ameritrac Rail systems, where he learned how to operate heavy equipment. Then he went on to work for El Dorado Livestock Auction, were he used his horse for work. After that, he went on to be a hot-shot truck driver making deliveries across the U.S. He was very proud of getting his class A driver's license. His most recent job was at Case New Holland manufacturing.
Derek is survived by his father, Donald; mother, Lavona; brother, Don; sister-in-law, Areal; sister, Charity Gibbons; brother-in-law, Chad Gibbons; two nephews; and four nieces.
