Barbara Alter, 76, was born April 24, 1945, and she joined the angels in heaven Sept. 5, 2021.
A private celebration of Barbara’s life for family and close friends is 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory in Arkansas City. Those attending are required to wear masks. Barbara’s death was caused by COVID-19.
Memorials in Barbara’s name can be donated to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or Alzheimer’s and Dementia Foundation.
Barbara was a beautiful person whose gifts were meant to create more beauty in the world. When she talked about her boys, her face would light up, and she would say how proud she was of them. Barbara loved to make chocolate chip and Christmas cookies for her sons. She was beyond a loving mother — she prayed, cried and laughed with her children.
Barbara was an inspiration to others. She lived by her strong faith in God and the love for her family. Her smile would brighten up the room, and her demeanor would give you strength to carry on, no matter the trials.
Barbara was married to Bill Alter for 60 years. They had three sons, William “Billy,” Albert and John.
She was preceded in death by her eldest son William “Billy,” her parents, two brothers, a brother-in-law and two nieces.
She is survived by her husband, two sons and their wives, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
