Wow what a difference between Arkansas City and Winfield. I live in Ark City and am very disappointed in our city commission that wouldn't even put face masks on its agenda or just make a statement encouraging wearing face mask. Maybe the Wilson park project is more important.

While Winfield makes it mandatory to save lives to wear mask, and Ark City does not. Winfield has an award-winning hospital, Ark City has one that is barely afloat. Winfield downtown is open for business, Ark City downtown is empty and now reaches to the north end of town. I for one really appreciate Winfield for standing up to keep the community safe. I for one am and will be taking the short drive to Winfield to spend my money.

Common sense is about as hard to come by as truth these days. I don't suppose anyone is saying I won't wear a mask until somebody forces me. Silly rules, gotta wear one going into a diner but you take if off to eat? Take a bit of personal responsibility, wear one if you are unwell, wear one to oblige a business, be responsible. It is wrong to apply a rule that cannot be followed like mandating a mask.
