ELLIS — Winfield High School junior Mikayla Konrade destroyed the competition Friday in the 126-pound weight class at the Division 2 Sub-State Girls Wrestling Championships at Ellis High School.

Konrade will take a 20-0 record into the KSHSAA Class 4-3-2-1A State Championships this Friday at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina.

The top four wrestlers from each weight class advanced to the Big Show.

Konrade needed all of 3:14 to pin three opponents en route to the championship.

The No. 2-ranked grappler in Division 2, Konrade opened with a 46-second pin of Larned’s Reese Watkins. She followed that with her toughest test of the day, a 1:23 fall against No. 6-ranked Isabella Keesee of Phillipsburg.

Konrade met No. 3-ranked Haley Cranwell of Ellis for the title and the result was similar -- a 1:05 pin.

She will represent the Lady Vikings at the State meet.

Douglass High School junior Jewella Cokeley is one of three Lady Bulldogs to qualify for the State meet.

Cokeley, ranked No. 5 at 170 pounds, will take a 20-3 record into the Big Show after her third-place finish Friday.

Cokeley opened with a pin against Plainville’s Samantha Sneath,  but fell to No. 2-ranked Jolie Ziegler of Council Grove in the semifinals.

Cokeley bounced back with a 10-1 major decision against Brooklyn Page of Rose Hill to clinch her State berth, then scrapped out a 6-5 upset in the third-place match against No. 4-ranked Lyndsey Buechman of Abilene. Cokeley took the match using a reversal 28 seconds into the third period.

DHS sophomore Payton Sholander punched her ticket to State at 191 pounds.

Ranked No. 5, Sholander opened with a pin of Norton’s Gracie Temmel, but dropped to the backside with a loss to No. 4-ranked Maddi Miller of Nickerson.

Sholander (18-9) clinched her State berth by pinning McPherson’s Erin Katina.

Sierra Lanning of Smith Center used a takedown early in the third period to collect the third-place medal with a 4-2 victory.

DHS sophomore Tyelor Rozell went 2-2 at 115, punching her ticket to the Show.

Rozell (27-8) opened against No. 6-ranked Kiana Grandclair of Hoisington, dropping an 11-8 decision. Undaunted, Rozell advanced due to injury default, then qualified with a 9-1 major decision against Nexy Young of Wellington.

Rozell dropped the third-place match to Kathie Chavez of Colby.

Douglass junior Dakotah Whitt went 0-2 at 143 and didn’t advance. She had the unenviable task of facing No. 1-ranked Livia Swift of Pratt in a first-round loss and fell to Lyrica Orosco of Hoisington in the elimination match.

Junior Abby Strouth met a similar fate at 155, going 0-2. Strouth fell to No. 3-ranked Keimarla Thompson of Pratt in the first round and was eliminated with a loss to Mulvane’s Katelyn Wyant.

Central of Burden 101-pounder Allie Pippitt ended her freshman campaign with a victory, but it was for fifth place.

Pippitt (8-14) fell to No. 5-ranked Lilly Herrman 8-0 in the quarterfinals, then dropped a 5-2 setback to Veronica Greene of Cimarron in the elimination round.

Pippitt ended on a high note, pinning Riley Baker of McPherson in 1:35.
