PLEASANT HILL, Iowa — The No. 8-ranked Cowley College wrestling team gained some valuable early-season experience Saturday at the challenging 50-team Grandview Open.

Austin Peri went 2-1 in the 197-pound weight class. Nathan Adamson (149 pounds), former Arkansas City High School standout Montez Robinson (157), Mouhamadou Sene (174) and Benny Madrid Jr. (184) also won a pair of matches on the weekend.

“It was a great tournament for our guys to be exposed to competing against NCAA and NAIA schools,” Cowley coach Beau Vest said. “I thought Montez hand another really good outing and Benny Madrid stuck out with his performance. Overall, our younger guys are battling and getting more seasoned.”

The Tigers returned home Tuesday to face Friends University.
