COFFEYVILLE — The Winfield Invitational girls swim meet had a different feel to it this year.

The event was moved to Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville due to the closure of the pool in the White P.E. Building on the campus of Southwestern College.

The Lady Vikings finished a solid second, well behind McPherson but well ahead of third-place Independence.

Freshman Reese Isom brought home the gold medal in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing the grueling event in 5 minutes, 41.51 seconds, nearly four seconds ahead of runner-up Marissa Pearcy of McPherson (5:45.44).

Though that was the only victory for Winfield, the Lady Vikings collected five silver medals in individual competition and two relays.

Isom was runner-up in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.18, almost three seconds off her season best. Freshman Emma Moore finished second in both the 100 free (57.52) and 100 breaststroke (1:21.08), shaving more than three seconds off that time.

Sophomore Jensen Lynnes was runner-up in the 200 free (2:11.47) and third in the 100 free, while freshman Ella Kohpay was second in the 200 individual medley (2:34.32).

Kohpay, Isom and Moore joined senior Gracie Mugler on the second-place 20 medley relay (2:11.9). Moore and Lynnes joined senior Maddie Cantu and junior Hailey Satterlee to place second in the 200 free relay (1:57.63).

Freshman Macie Mayberry collected a pair of bronze medals, placing third in the 100 butterfly and 500 free. She joined Isom, Kohpay and Mugler on the third-place 400 free relay.
