Injuries mounting for Lady Builders

The Lady Builders (4-å16, 1-13 KCAC) trailed by just one, 17-16, after the first quarter, but committed eight turnovers in the second quarter, allowing Ottawa to forge a 29-24 halftime lead.

While the Lady Braves (11-8, 7-6) were shooting 10 of 21 from the floor in the third quarter, Southwestern was coughing up 11 more miscues and finished with 32 turnovers.

Haven Matthews finished with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor to lead the Lady Builders, who shot 47.5% for the game (19 of 40). D’Shonda Hunt added a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double and Heather Chiesi chipped in 10 points.

Nicole Brown had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Braves, who shot 39% from the floor (29 of 66), but 54% from inside the arc (20 of 37). Cierra Brown had 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go with six rebounds off the bench.

The Lady Builders were slated to return home Monday night to face Saint Mary. The Lady Squires (11-8, 7-6) rolled to a 74-45 home victory Saturday against York.
