WICHITA — Arkansas City senior Trent Sutherland fired a 76 on Monday at the Bishop Carroll Invitational in the spring opener.

The Bulldogs placed sixth among nine full squads and four incomplete teams.

Sutherland was just two strokes off the lead, finishing fifth.

Asher Whitaker of team champion Kapaun Mt. Carmel won on a playoff after finishing in a tie of 74 with Kameron Shaw of Shawnee Heights.

Noah Holtzman of Carroll and Quaid Oliver of Kapaun also tied for third with Sutherland.

Garrett Griffey carded a 108 to finish in a tie for 43rd. Cale Shorter was 47th with a 114, while Easton Sanderholm tied for 50th with a 119, one shot better than teammate Nathan Monroe.
