The Winfield Middle School seventh-grade girls basketball team finished in second place with an 11-3 record.

The Junior Lady Vikings fell to Augusta 14-12 in the Pioneer League Tournament championship Feb. 21 at Benton-Circle Middle School.

Kinsley McCauley tied the game with a 3-pointer with about three minutes remaining, but Augusta grabbed a steal and layup with 20 seconds left to win it.

Winfield’s only losses during the season came to Clearwater and Augusta on their home courts.

The leading scorers for the ‘A’ team were McCauley and Aleah Moree. Other players included Brooke Brogan, Kyra Cornejo, Kelsie McNutt, Khloe Perkins, Kamea Adams, Olivia Henning, Brooke Webb, Natalie McBee and Allicyn McGinnis.

The Winfield ‘B’ team captured the title in their tournament Feb. 2.

The Junior Lady Vikings finished with a 10-4 record.

In addition to McBee, Adams, Webb, Henning and McGinnis, the ‘B’ team included Aubrey Schmidt, Jo Sillo, Skylar Flower, Allyson Thiel, Piper Busch and Lauryn Turner.

Coaches were Karrie McNutt and Tom Fell.
