The Winfield Vikings football season came to an end Friday at Buhler as the home team racked up 28 second quarter points to put the game away.

The teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter, but the Crusaders reeled off five straight touchdowns to build a 42-7 halftime lead toward final score of 59-20.

The Vikings rushed for 215 yards and dominated time of possession, but Buhler was able to strike quickly at times, with its first three scores coming on plays of 47, 22 and 71 yards.

Buhler (9-1) advances in the Class 4A State playoffs to play Mulvane (8-2). The Vikings finish the season 4-6.
