TOPEKA — Arkansas City High School junior Breanna Ruyle punched her ticket to the Big Show with a three-way tie for 15th place Monday at the Class 5A Regional Championships at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.

The top four teams qualified as full squads, along with the top six individuals from other teams for the KSHSAA Class 5A State Championships, set for Oct. 18-19 at The Course at Carey Park in Hutchinson.

Ruyle, who fired an even 100, was the first individual golfer to qualify.

Regional champion Kapaun Mt. Carmel shot a 318, 39 strokes ahead of runner-up Bishop Carroll (357). Topeka-Seaman was third (389) and Emporia finished fourth (418).

Katherine Tilma of Kapaun took the individual title with a 70, five strokes ahead of runner-up Lois Deeter of Seaman. Tilma recorded six birdies on the day and bogeyed just five times.

Ruyle opened with a double-bogey and struggled with triple-bogeys on Nos. 3 and 6. But she righted the ship with a birdie on No. 7 and settled for a 48 at the turn.

Triple-bogeys on No. 10 and 18, and four double-bogeys hurt her score on the back nine, where she finished with a 52. After shooting par twice in the opening round, she shot par just once on the back side.

ACHS junior Aidan Holman tied for 26th with a 112. Junior Tayeah Rich tied for 35th with a 120, while sophomore Alaina Brantley was 44th with a 135.
