SOUTH HAVEN — Kaitlynn Anderson recorded 13 of 15 outs by strikeout Monday afternoon as the Cedar Vale/Dexter softball team defeated South Haven 15-0 in the first game of a South Central Border League doubleheader.

Anderson struck out 12 more in the nightcap as the Lady Spartans made it a clean sweep with an 18-0 victory.

Anderson, Kyndell Randall, Jenna Richardson and Kyler Magnus all recorded multiple hits to lead the Lady Spartans (4-0, 4-0 SCBL) in the opener.

Anderson lead the game off with a double, followed by a Jasmine Helvy single. Richardson followed with a one-out line drive and Magnus recorded a double in a three-run first inning.

Cedar Vale/Dexter scored three more in the top of the second with two out. Anderson, Randall and Richardson all scored.

Riley Shalk, Anderson, Randall and Helvy all scored with two out in the fourth on doubles by Anderson and Richardson.

Anderson struck out the side in the bottom of the inning and the Lady Spartans scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning, led by a two-run double by Peyton King to end the game due to the run-rule.

Cedar Vale/Dexter’s bats remained hot in the nightcap, as Helvy and Anderson both doubled to left and Richardson singled to spring the Lady Spartans to a 2-0 first-inning lead.

The host Lady Cardinals (0-4, 0-4), who lost the majority of their players to graduation, loaded the bases in the bottom of the first, but were unable to score.

Helvy led off the third with a single. After Anderson and Richardson walked, Magnus came through with a single.

Pinch-runner Micah Brown scampered home on a sacrifice bunt by Mandi Ford. Rae McAdam singled to load the bases before Randall grounded out to end the inning.

Cedar Vale/Dexter again ended it after five innings, this time with a nine-run fifth.

After a Helvy walk, Richardson and Magnus hit one-out back-to-back singles to stretch the lead to 6-0. A pair of South Haven errors allow the Lady Spartans to score three more runs.

Richardson, Magnus, Helvy and Randall led the team with multiple hits.
