The Southwestern College volleyball team was unable to build off of a modest two-match winning streak, ending the season with four straight losses, including a 25-7, 25-21, 25-21 setback Saturday to Saint Mary on Senior Day in Stewart Field House.

A victory by the Lady Builders (2-16, 1-11 KCAC), coupled with a loss by York would have clinched a postseason berth for Southwestern. York fell to Bethany, but the loss ended Southwestern’s season.

The Lady Builders struggled to get anything going in the first set, possibly their least effective set all season. Southwestern only registered two kills in the set.

Southwestern battled back in the second and third sets, but the Lady Spires (20-9, 9-3) used three service aces to take the second set, and Saint Mary never trailed despite a close third set.

D’Sani Levy recorded eight kills in the match, with just one attack error. Sydney Morris added seven kills and Maela Stevens notched 18 assists to go with seven digs. Senior libero Kaitlin Patulea pulled up 16 digs.
